A Note from Rachel Ochoa – Joining Us for the Get A Way!

August 27, 2008

Hi, my name is Rachel Ochoa and it is an honor for me to write about the Get A Way (formerly Family Camp) at Camp Oakhurst. I am the wife of a burn survivor. This is our 3rd year attending the camp with our family and it is a lot of fun. We have the best time. We meet new friends we get away and spend lots of family time together. We feel lots of love, caring, understanding, and help from the staff. This helps us as a family to understand that we are not the only ones that have gone through this experience as a burn survivor. We cherish life more and don’t take things for granted. We are pleased to attend the Get A Way camp with my husband and children are very thank full to the AARBF to think of us and inviting us along. My family and I would like to invite and encourage everyone to attend the Get A Way camp. Thank you, AARBF!

Cheers to Target!

August 19, 2008

Earlier this month we received $4,000 to support our annual holiday parties as part of our Burn Survivor Services. A little background: since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that translates to more than $3 million every week.

We are proud of our partnership with Target. Together making a difference.

Hook & Ladder Ball – Saturday, October 25, 2008! Join us!

July 30, 2008

The wheels are in motion for what promises to be the most spectacular Hook & Ladder Ball yet. Mark your calendars now because this will be an event not to be missed — Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Argonaut Hotel at the famous San Francisco landmark Fisherman’s Wharf. It will be an evening to remember!

EventLady, working alongside AARBF’s staff, will again delight friends and guests with a hosted cocktail hour, opportunity drawing, silent auction and dinner and dance. In honor of our dedicated and committed local firefighters, I invite you to join local and out-of-town guests to our community of firefighters and AARBF supporters.

Let me start by saying that I am TRULY honored to be working on my second AARBF event. My experience planning the Bachelor Auction brought me closer to this community and, before I knew it, I was hooked. The staff at AARBF are some of the most caring and dedicated (not to mention organized) people I have ever worked with. It gives me great pride to working with AARBF again.

So here I am in the very beginning of planning this exciting event. My first to-do list is almost two pages long! We’ve started brainstorming about the theme for this year’s event and decided to match the feel of Fisherman’s Wharf and the Argonaut Hotel, a beautifully appointed Kimpton boutique hotel. This year’s Hook & Ladder will be nautical-themed, and we encourage you and our friends that attend to dress the part. EventLady, of course, will be dressed to set sail.

We encourage you to take advantage of this destination event by booking a room at the Argonaut and enjoying a weekend with friends and family (and even making new friends). Late October in San Francisco is typically one of our warmest times of year, perfect for enjoying drinks on the outdoor patio, during the hosted cocktail hour and then strolling along the wharf after dinner.

Check back here and AARBF’s website at www.aarbf.org often to find updates and more details about tickets, corporate and group sales, travel packages and more in the upcoming weeks. If you have auction items or ideas to share, please let me know at events@aarbf.org call the SF Office at (415) 495-7223. Hope to see you all soon!
