Over 850 burn survivors, professionals and others affected by burn injuries recently gathered for the 23rd annual World Burn Congress in Cincinnati, Ohio. Among those experiencing this event was AARBF Director of Programs, Sarah “Gypsy” Burton and Northern Region Survivor Services/Prevention Coordinator, Carolyn “Lady Bug” Falkenberg. The World Burn Congress was established by the Phoenix Society to support recovery from the devastating effects of burn injuries through community, inspiration, education. Keynote speakers included Brian Shull, burn survivor and SR-71 Pilot, and Sarah Bazey who spoke eloquently about her decision to live a life not defined by her burn scars.
